What is a Chicken Door Opener and Why is it Important?

Source

At Titan Incubators, we know a thing or two about chickens.

One thing we know for sure is that, like us, chickens enjoy routine. Abiding by a set daily itinerary is something that helps chickens stay healthy, happy and thrive in their environment.

Like clockwork, chickens rise with the sun and take refuge from the elements to roost as it sets.

Titan Candler 1
IMG 1275

We are now only 5 weeks away from the launch of our new High Intensity and Standard Egg candlers. We have been designing these for sometime now with a very unique lighting source enabling maximum light inside the egg with no heat damage to the embryo. We have also designed the units with a very comfortable design allowing eggs to be placed on the unit concaved surface allowing maximum stability and safety for your eggs to ensure they are not damaged. We believe ours are the most powerful candlers that will be on the market and the results will be easy to see for everyone whom has one.

Titan Incubators Proud Sponsors of Elena Allen on The Road To Rio

IMG 9664

Congratulations to Elena Allen for being the first to gain an Olympic quota place in Olympic skeet and holding that quota place with some amazing shooting in 2015 and wish you well in training and competing in the Olympics.

Titan Incubators has been a proud sponser of Elena's for many years now and had many happy days training with her and fortunate to have her coach Malcolm to coach myself also if and when he has any spare time understandably busy coaching another shooter :)

Shooting is far from a well funded sport and it takes huge personal commitment and financial commitment to maintain top standards yet Elena has been the top UK shooter for well over a decade now.

Obviously Titan wishes the whole UK team the best in Rio but being very biased we wish Elena that bit more :)

We will keep you updated with her progress during 2016 upto and through the Olympics.

Automatic Chicken Door Openers

As market a market leader in automatic chicken doors we have to constantly look at our products and see what is right and what could do with an update.

Our of automatic chicken door opener range currently works great without time and timer and light sensor models doing as they should.

But in reviewing the range i realised that we could create a further unit which will be a light sensor unit automatic hen door opener only but due to current costs it would be pointless as it would be a similar cost to our current light sensor and timer unit, however we have been testing a chip for a new incubator project we are doing and although it did not work for that project it will work in this light sensor door opener meaning we can create this unit without a front screen making a financial saving.

On this basis we are designing a new back board and hope to bring this extra 3rd line to our chicken house door opener range in January / Febuary 2016.

As many of you may have noticed that Titan Incubators has now gained many flags for translation, we have done this due to our ever expanding customer base worldwide.

During massive product testing and upgrading over the last 8-9 months we have done very little to update the site but with new members of staff we will constantly be working on upgrading your experience on the website also.

We hope you like the upgrade we will be making over time and am sure you will find constant updates to the knowledgebase very helpful in many aspects of keeping your livestock.

'Mother' Brooder Hen Test 40cmx50cm

b2ap3_thumbnail_11693029_884844164884914_581674964_n.jpg

We are so excited our new products for 2016 are arriving so testing has started, today it's our Brooder Hen (Electric Mother Hen) that is in it's testing stage...

We need to ensure that all areas are giving off the correct temperature ready for all the chicks (in this picture we are doing multiple plate tests to ensure there are no sopts that could make a chick uncomfortable if it were to touch it), different heights and different ambient room temperature checks that will take place over the next few months or so.

We have tried many wattage options and hope to launch at 39w but we are testing 5 different units at different wattages currently. 39w&46w units are giving by far the best results at this early stage.

New Titan Incubators Brooder Hen Getting Rave reviews

New Titan Incubators Brooder Hen Getting Rave reviews

Well our 30x30cm brooder hen was launched a little later than I had hoped this year but I really wanted to ensure that I got it to 20w and the size I was looking for and after a few extra months of testing i was able to create the unique situation of a low powered brooder hen with the same results of rearing quality as a mother hen.

However due to the delay we were also able to add Silver Technology antimicrobial additive to the plastic adding a massive advantage to the hygiene of the brooder.

Since its launch we have been getting rave reviews and also amazing sales, i have added a few of reviews below :-

'I already own two of the original Electric Hens and find them absolutely fantastic to raise chicks. This year I needed a 3rd at short notice. After some consideration, I decided to buy this one from P and T Poultry instead of the one with the metal legs that I have had before.I am so glad I did.My other EHs (Electric Hens) are great, but the legs used to drive me mad. They take forveer to adjust (they are thin and take it takes ages to twist each one, it's hard to get them the same height, and because they are thin my hands ached after a while. Once fitted, they are a bit spindly; we got rid of them in the end and suspended the EHs from the ceiling using chains. With this new hen, I get the same great technology and idea as the original, but with legs that are really stable and easy to use. Not only are they a bit more substantial, but they have some additional features. Firsty, there is a lug which hold the leg in place, which can be moved so the leg can be slid straight in approx the right height you want. It saved a lot of effort screwing, screwing, screwing. Next, the legs have points marked so it's really easy to get them to the same height. The legs are chunkier and more convenient to handle, and they are also less wobbly than the original ones. The unit is also coated in something antimicrobial, but I have no way of testing that.Service was fast. I ordered on Sunday night and the unit arrived on Tuesday morning.I would definitely recommend both the Titan brooder hen'

Titan Tips: Incubator Humidity Settings For Ducks

So many people keep asking me the settings for humidity in forced air incubators (fan assisted incubators) for Ducks recently I have decided to add them on the blog.

The majority of ducks the humidity setting is 45% for the turning days and 60-65% for the non-turning and hatching days.

Most domestic/commercial ducks have a hatch time of 28 days (26 turning and 2 non turning / hatching days) Muscovy are longer.

It appear the biggest failure of hatches that i speak about are people with humidity way to high thinking ducks are waterfowl so need very high humidity and this is not true, these settings will get you good hatch results.

I aim to add many settings to our knowledgebase in the next week or two so please see there also for other bird settings i will add there.

Small Update On Elena's Commonwealth Silver Medal

Small Update On Elena's Commonwealth Silver Medal

Wales’ second medal of the Commonwealth games arrived via Russia as shooter Elena Allen took silver in the women’s skeet.

The 42-year-old, who was born in Moscow but lives in Newport with husband and fellow skeet shooter Malcolm Allen, was edged out in the gold-medal match by Australia’s Laura Coles.

In unusually sweltering conditions on the Dundee coast, Allen dropped just three shots in the final but 27-year-old Coles was hotter, nailing 14 of her 16 clays to top the podium.

Allen, who will be cheering hubby on in the men’s skeet qualifiers on Saturday morning - he currently lies well placed in fifth with two rounds to go - said: “I’m very happy. It’s nice to walk away with something.
